Mont Alto Summer Camps & Clinics Open for Registration

Mont Alto Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto athletic department is currently accepting registration for all five youth athletic camps and clinics this summer. The coaching staffs at Mont Alto welcome the opportunity to work with students from the local community in sports ranging from soccer, basketball to wrestling! Each camp offers young athletes an opportunity to receive quality training from collegiate coaches as well as older players get great exposure for recruiting identification.

Co-Ed Soccer Skills & Training Summer Camp

Dates: June 19-23 2017

Session Times: 7-11 year olds 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 12-18 year olds 6:45 p.m.-8:45 p.m.

Ages: 7-18 year olds

Cost: $65

Sessions include: A co-ed soccer skills and training summer camp designed to stimulate a love for the game showing youth athletes how to accelerate their own progress and success. This five-day camp provides a fun and competitive environment for players of all ability levels. Join Penn State Mont Alto Men's Soccer Head Coach Tim Carey and his staff for an excellent opportunity to take your game to the next level. We offer an unforgettable growth experience no matter what your age or skill level and all attendee's will receive a FREE Penn State Mont Alto soccer T-Shirt!

Penn State Mont Alto Wrestling Summer Camp

Dates: June 26-29 2017

Session Times: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Ages: 12-18 year olds

Cost: $80

Sessions include:  A hands-on camp where wrestlers in grades 7th to 12th will learn skills and concepts of folkstyle wrestling and some Olympic style wrestling (Freestyle and Greco-Roman). The Penn State Mont Alto coaching staff featuring Three-Time NCWA All-American and Two-Time National Runner-Up Clay Kocsis will teach attacks and counter attacks in all three positions: neutral, top and bottom. The end of every takedown should have an ultimate goal of getting a pin. If you are taken down, a reversal or an escape should be your first thought and should already be occurring, as we will teach different techniques focused on continuous action during drill or live wrestling. Our training schedule will include basic and advanced techniques adjusted to each age and level.

Lions Goalkeeper and Striker Co-Ed Soccer Camp

Dates: June 27-29 2017

Session Times: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ages: 10-18 year olds

Cost: $75

Sessions include: A co-ed soccer camp aimed to educate and advance the technical and mental components required to be a successful striker or goalkeeper. This may be the first formal introduction to serious goalkeeper/striker training or it may provide repetitions required to continue to evolve and fine-tune a player's skillset. You will walk away a better striker or goalkeeper and have the knowledge and tools to continue to improve.

Girls Basketball Pass, Dribble and Shoot Basketball Clinic

Dates: July 27 & 28 2017

Session Times: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ages: 8-14 year olds

Cost: $20

Sessions include: A girls basketball clinic designed for athletes aged 8-14 teaching the fundamentals of basketball to the beginner, as well as enhancing the skills of an experienced player. The clinic is intended to give players an opportunity to improve their skill and understanding of basketball by training the same way the Penn State Mont Alto Women's Basketball team trains. Under the direction of Head Coach Paul Lundy, the Mont Alto coaching staff will put participants through a series of age/skill appropriate drills and game situations emphasizing player development.

Softball Pitching Clinic

Dates: August 12 & 13 2017

Session Times: 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Ages: 10-18 year olds

Cost: $50

Sessions include: A girls softball clinic designed for athletes aged 10-18 to improve upon the fundamentals of pitching. Beginners will learn the basic mechanics of windmill pitching including the proper way to grip the ball and drive with the legs during a pitch.  Advanced pitchers will enhance their basic mechanics, learning breaking pitches like the drop, curve, and rise ball.  There will also be an emphasis on location, movement and the development of a change up. We ask that each participant supply her own catcher and in case of inclement weather, the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC) gymnasium will be used.
