MONT ALTO, Pa. - On Tuesday, Nov. 27, Penn State Mont Alto will participate in #GivingTuesday – a national day to celebrate the power of giving back. Again this year, all gifts made during the 24-hour period of online giving will support Mont Alto Athletics, directly benefiting the men and women who participate in the 12 intercollegiate programs on campus.
"At Penn State Mont Alto, we aspire to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes that has a long-lasting, positive impact," Director of Athletics Staci Brennan said. By contributing to this fundraising effort, you will play a direct role in enhancing their experience."
"College athletics is an opportunity to form relationships with people that will last a lifetime," remarked senior women's soccer student-athlete Angel Schoonover. "Competing at this level allows me to grow as an individual and become a role model for young athletes. These opportunities would not be possible without the generous sponsorship of people like you who foster the importance of athletics."
Every gift will be generously matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 by alumni Josh Dunklebarger '02 and wife Erica Dunklebarger '05, who first met while playing for the Penn State Blue Band. As supporters of the Mont Alto campus, they know how athletics helps to create a positive campus spirit and atmosphere.
"Donations from Giving Tuesday are used in many different ways at Mont Alto with a portion of the funds potentially helping cover the costs of our Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach for the baseball program," said head baseball coach Shawn Kissell.
"It's truly crazy thinking about the amount of money that is donated during #GivingTuesday. At Mont Alto, we truly reap the benefits and appreciate your continued support," added sophomore men's soccer student-athlete Owen Gilbert.
