Topper and Thorson each earn a win from the mound for Mont Alto

It was a great day for baseball as the Mont Alto Nittany Lions hosted the Lions from Penn State Scranton for a conference double header.  Mont Alto brought intensity with their bats that proved to be the difference in the game.

Scranton took an early 2 run lead to start the game off of a single from Chris Krouchick, but these runs would be the first, and only runs during this first game for Scranton.

Scranton starting pitcher Ryan Janesko would keep Mont Alto in check until the bottom of the 4th inning when Mont Alto came alive.  With help from 2 doubles, 2 triples, and let's not forget about the Tyler Geesaman stolen home plate along with the 3 run homer from Michael Young, Mont Alto scored 10 runs in the inning to take the commanding lead.

Mont Alto would hold on to the lead, adding 2 more to the final.  Nathan Topper got the win for Mont Alto, going 5 innings with 5 K's.  Young went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and 4 RBIs, including 2 doubles, and a home run.

The second game was a little different in scoring.  Although Mont Alto took the lead, scoring single runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings, Scranton would not go down without a fight.  Coming back in the 6th and 7th to tie the game at 3, due in part to a couple of fielding errors by Mont Alto.  The game would be at a stalemate through a few extra innings until the bottom of the 9th.  Mont Alto's Seth Martin would single in Geesaman from 3rd to score the final, and winning run to take both games of the double header.

Mont Alto's Justin Warner had 2 doubles while Scranton's Tyler Cunningham stole 2 bases.  Zeb Thorson got the win for Mont Alto, pitching 4 innings with 4 K's.

Mont Alto's next home game will be April 11th against Christendom College at 4:00 p.m.
