Baseball sweeps Wilkes-Barre on the road

 

The Penn State Mont Alto Baseball team knows how competitive the PSUAC conference is and they know that they need to win to make it to the tournament.  Yesterday, they added two more wins to their record.  Mont Alto traveled to Penn State Wilkes-Barre for a conference double-header.  They won the first game 10-1 and won the second 17-1 in four innings.

In game one, Mont Alto was led by Derek Coy, who pitched all seven innings.  Coy only allowed one run on four hits and four walks.  He struck out 11 batters. 

The whole Mont Alto team contributed to the first big win over Wilkes-Barre.  Although zero players had two hits, eight batters each had a hit.  Cody Casey hit the lone extra base hit with a double.  Tanner Kibe drove in two RBIs.  Mont Alto was walked 11 times. 

  

In game two, Mont Alto was on a roll.  They finished the game in four innings, winning 17-1. 

Jordan Weller was on the mound for Mont Alto.  In four innings, he only allowed three hits, walking one, striking out five and one earned run. 

Matt Clark and Chase King each recorded two hits.  Justin Warner added another homerun to his stats and Kibe hit a double.  Warner, King and Chris Torres also all had stolen bases.

 

 

Mont Alto returns to action this weekend at home when they face Penn State Beaver for a double-header on Saturday, April 13th at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  On Sunday they are home again against Penn State Fayette for another double-header at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
