Baseball is back

Baseball is back

The 2014 Penn State Mont Alto baseball season is set to swing in action on March 27th at Gettysburg College before starting PSUAC conference play with a home weekend stand on Saturday March 29th vs. Hazleton and Sunday March 30th vs. York.  Both games are 2:00 p.m. starts.

The 2014 Mont Alto team will be led by 2013 PSUAC All-Conference & team captain, Junior first baseman Jeremy Pagano (York, PA).  Pagano's .319 batting average led all Mont Alto players last year in PSUAC play and looks to build on an impressive 2013 sophomore season. He will be rejoined by returning starters, Senior third baseman and pitcher Zeb Thorson (Carlisle, PA ), Junior outfielder and pitcher Matt Clark (Chambersburg, PA ),  Sophomore pitcher and outfielder Josiah Furry (Chambersburg, PA ), Senior outfielder and first baseman Cody Casey (Carlisle, PA), Sophomore  pitcher and outfielder Brady Griest (Biglerville, PA ) and  Sophomore infielder Aaron Maze (Elizabethtown, PA).

Returning starters will be joined this season by the 2014 recruiting class standouts.  Freshman pitcher and outfielder Dylan Bryan (Waynesboro, PA ), Freshman infielder Baker Holden (Greencastle, PA), Freshman outfielder Brandon Carbaugh (Waynesboro, PA) and Junior catcher Jonathan Furness
(Chambersburg, PA).

This 2014 squad will compete to regain the form that brought the first PSUAC Baseball Championship to Mont Alto in 2012 and sent that team on to first trip to the USCAA Small College World Series in the history of Mont Alto Baseball.

This season will see a coaching change at Mont Alto with 2012-2013 Assistant Coach Terry Clark taking over as Head Coach. His coaching staff consists of ex-Kansas City Royals draftee Marty Rosenberry and 2005 Shippensburg University Baseball Hall Of Fame inductee Doug Furness. The coaching staff has this year's team ready to challenge for a PSUAC title and expectations are high for a return trip in May to Springfield, Illinois for an appearance in the 2014 USCAA Baseball World Series.
