Baseball splits with Wilkes-Barre

 

Mont Alto Men's Baseball team had a PSUAC weekend on the road.  Their first stop was on Saturday April 12th, 2014 at Wilkes-Barre.  Wilkes-Barre is 0-6 in the conference while Mont Alto is 4-6.  Going into the game, the Mont Alto men were on a four game winning streak and in hopes to keep it going.

 

 

In the bottom of the first inning Mont Alto was trailing 2-3 to Wilkes-Barre.   In the second inning, Mont Alto scored two runs gaining the lead.  The score going into the third was 4-3 Mont Alto on top.  Mont Alto did not score in the third inning; however, Wilkes-Barre scored one run making it all even going into the fourth inning.

 

 

Wilkes-Barre dominated in the fourth scoring eight runs.

 

Mont Alto attempted to answer in the fifth but could not seem to get their bats going in order to narrow the deficit that Wilkes-Barre created in the fourth.  In the bottom of the fifth inning Wilkes-Barre scored three more runs forcing Mont Alto into the mercy rule.

 

Wilkes-Bare ended Mont Alto's winning streak in the first game winning, 15-5.

 

The second game was a different story, Mont Alto only allowed Wilkes-Barre to score two runs for the entire game.  Mont Alto bats were alive as they hit 17-31 as a team.  Jeremy Pagano (York, PA) hit 2-3 in the second game with two runs and two RBI's.  Pagano also hit a home run in the game.

 

 

Josiah Furry (Chambersburg, PA) and Matt Clark (Chambersburg, PA) both went 3-3.   Between the two of them, they scored five runs, recorded five RBI's and both hit a double.  Mont Alto had five players steal seven bases.

 

 

The final score of the game was 12-2, Mont Alto ended the day with a win and a loss, splitting with Wilkes-Barre.
