Coy Is Almost Perfect...

Coy Is Almost Perfect...

Derek Coy came into this season one of the best in the USCAA.  Can he keep getting better?  Two weeks removed from earning USCAA National Pitcher of the Week, and one week removed from earning PSUAC Pitcher of the Week, Coy is looking to keep those honors coming.

On Sunday Coy pitched a game that was as close as you could get to perfect, but it wasn't perfect.  Coy faced PSUAC opponent Penn State Wilkes Barre in the 2nd game of a double header.  Wilkes Barre struggled at the plate, as Coy retired 16 out of 22 batters with strike outs on the day.

He allowed 0 hits, and 0 runs, but with 2 outs in the final inning it happened.  An error caused Coy to lose the perfect game.  Coy struck out the next batter to finish the game with a no hit shut out, and what most would call an extraordinarily fun outing to watch.

Mont Alto tooks both games of the double header, and improved their conference record to 8-2.
