Number One and Still Rolling....

Spirits were high going into the double header against visiting Penn State Hazleton today.  The baseball team was not only tied for first in the conference, but also were looking to close out their home stand with a few wins for the Mont Alto crowd.

The first game started slow due to some strong pitching on both sides, but the bats eventually got warmed up for the Mont.  Although Hazleton scored one run in each the 3rd and 4th innings, Mont Alto came back with their own rally scoring 3 runs in the 4th.

Pitcher Colby Dice kept the hazleton bats at bay from then on allowing them only 3 hits and 2 runs in his complete game from the mound.  Dice also had 11 strike outs.

Mont Alto's Jeremy Younker drove in 3 runs, and both Younker and catcher Trae Hall legged out a triple each in the game.  Mont Alto would go on to add some security runs and win the game, 8-2.

In the second game Mont Alto's Dylan Bryan took the mound.  Bryan allowed only 1 run, and tallied 8 strikeouts in 6 innings before Younker came in the 7th to close out the game.  Younker struck out 2 of the final batters to get the save.  Mont Alto would win the second game as well, 7-1.

Alex Cline hit a 2 run shot for Mont Alto, and Younker would help out with his 2 doubles during the game as well.

Mont Alto is now ties for first in the PSUAC, and will head out on the road for a weekend trip to Penn State York, and Penn State Dubois.  Penn State Dubois is tied with Mont Alto for first place, and their double header versus the Mont will be the final conference games of the regular season for wither team.
