Baseball's Success Earns Season Honors

Mont Alto baseball had a pretty successful year as a team this season, and due to the hard work as a team, individual play was also recognized at the end of the season for many of the athletes.

 

PSUAC award winners included First Team All-Conference sophomore Alex Cline, and freshman Jeremy Younker.  Brady Griest and freshman Matt Taylor earned All-Conference Second Team honors as well.

 

National attention was also given to these same 4 student-athletes for their exceptional play this season.  Alex Cline was nominated for Student Athlete of the Year due to his 3.8 cumulative GPA, as well as his fourth in the country .426 batting average, and fifth in the country 24 stolen bases.  Cline was second in the All-American voting.

 

Senior Brady Griest earned All-American status as well with his .386 batting average, 3 home runs that included a grand slam, and 36 runs scored.  In his career Griest compiled 108 hits, 17 doubles, 8 triples, and a career batting average of .354.

 

Jeremy Younker's All-American was earned with 30 RBI's, and a batting average of .400 which included 46 hits, and 6 triples.

 

Matt Taylor also had an outstanding All-American season committing only 7 errors on the season at second base, having 17 stolen bases, scoring 34 runs on 46 hits, and having a batting average of .338.
