Mont Alto, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto baseball team was its own worst enemy in its first game with PSU Greater Allegheny committing five errors allowing the visitors a 6-2 win. In the second game of their doubleheader, the Lions shored up their defense and came up victorious by a 2-1 score.

Penn State Greater Allegheny (6-11, 4-3 PSUAC) scored runs in each of the first five innings including a pair in the fifth frame, but was held scoreless by Mont Alto in the final two innings. Luke Padezan earned the win on the mound improving to 4-3 on the season and was credited with allowing two earned runs. PSU Mont Alto got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning as Jeremiah Younker hit a two-out double splitting the outfield, which made it 4-1. Greater Allegheny scored a pair of insurance in the top of the fifth and Joe Clabaugh singled home Brady Topper for the final tally of game one.

The second game of the doubleheader was a much more closely contested affair with Penn State Mont Alto (7-17-1, 3-3 PSUAC) scoring both of its runs in the bottom of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Colby Black slapped a single, stole second and advanced to third as Matt Taylor battled for a walk to put runners on first and third with nobody out. Black scored a batter later on a passed ball by the PSU Greater Allegheny catcher and Taylor would advanced to third on same sequence and score on a Tyler Martin sacrifice fly. PSU Greater Allegheny clawed a run in the top of the fifth, but Lowell Singer got back into a groove, as he was dominant all afternoon allowing five hits and striking out five across seven innings.
