Lions Match Season-High 16 Runs in Win over Penn State Greater Allegheny

Mont Alto, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto baseball team matched a season-high 16 runs in a 16-1 win. The Lions improved to 8-17-1 and 4-3 in the PSUAC, which is good for third place in the PSUAC East Standings.

Penn State Mont Alto got a quality start out of Joel Clabaugh who went all seven innings for the Lions striking out the final three batters and held PSU Greater Allegheny to five hits. Mont Alto opened the scoring with a five-run bottom of the first inning. The Lions enacted their game plan within that inning as they stole a season-high six bases and were patient at the plate drawing a season-high 11 walks, which keyed the victory.

The Lions added six more runs across the second and third innings, before Greater Allegheny got on the board making it 11-1 in the top of the sixth.  Mont Alto scored five more runs in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach. Matt Taylor had an outstanding afternoon at the plate going 2-for-3 including two doubles, four RBI's, scored three runs and also drew two walks.

Penn State Mont Alto returns to action after the Easter holiday on Monday, April 17. The Lions host Penn State DuBois for a doubleheader.
