State College, Pa. - Sophomore Jeremiah Younker was named PSUAC Baseball Hitter of the Week and USCAA National Hitter of the Week after a huge performance in the first round of the 2017 PSUAC Baseball Championship, which saw Penn State Mont Alto eliminate last year's champion PSU Beaver 9-6 in an extra inning thriller.

Younker had an outstanding week at the plate recording six RBI's while going 6-for-9 (.667), including two home runs, a triple, a double and the outfielder also scored six runs for the Lions. He also was credited with the win on the mound against Penn State Beaver coming in relief of starting pitcher Lowell Singer where he scattered five hits across five innings and fanned three batters.

Younker owns a .462 batting average on the season, which is second best in the PSUAC and ranks third in the USCAA. He and the Lions will look to win their first PSUAC Championship since 2012 when they travel to Scranton, Pa. on Sunday, May 7 to compete in the rest of the 2017 PSUAC Championships. Mont Alto is slated to play Penn State Brandywine at 10 a.m. in the double elimination format tournament.
