Baseball Set to Compete in USCAA World Series in Glens Falls

Mont Alto, Pa. – For the first time since 2012, the Penn State Mont Alto baseball team will compete in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Softball World Series in Glens Falls, New York, beginning Monday, May 15 at East Field Park.

East Field Park, which is a 7,000-seat stadium and the home of Double A affiliates of the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers will field all games of the 10-team double elimination tournament.

Seeded No. 7, Mont Alto will face No. 10 Marygrove College during its tournament opening game on Monday at 11 a.m. The Mustangs received an at-large bid out of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and sport a 6-37 overall record on the season. The winner advances in the winners bracket to play Monday at 6:30 p.m. against the College of St. Joseph's (VT), while the loser will play an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, Mont Alto claimed the PSUAC Tournament championship, earning the conference's automatic bid to the USCAA Tournament. The Lions used outstanding pitching from Lowell Singer and Spencer Meyers and are led offensively by First Team All-PSUAC outfielder Jeremiah Younker, PSUAC Newcomer of the Year/Second Team All-PSUAC second basemen Brady Topper and PSUAC Honorable Mention outfielder Matt Taylor.

The 10-team, double-elimination tournament runs through Thursday's championship game at East Field.
