MONT ALTO, Pa.- The Penn State Mont Alto baseball team returned to action on Friday afternoon against PSU Kensington as Mont Alto played for the first time in nearly two weeks because of inclement weather in the area. Mont Alto built a 5-0 first inning lead and never looked back with the Nittany Lions picking up the 11-1 conference victory over New Kensington.

The top of the lineup got things going with Colby Black (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring), Nick Jacoby (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg), Jeremiah Younker (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport), Hunter Martin (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown), and Nate Reiner (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) each crossing the plate and scoring a run within the first inning.

Overall, PSUMA outhit the visitors by a 12-5 margin with New Kensington plating its lone run of the game in the top of the second inning on a Darius Bennis sacrifice. Michael Dauer took the loss for New Kensington as he gave up 11 runs and had trouble finding the strike zone consistently with eight walks given up.

Spencer Meyers (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) was electric on the mound striking out a season-high nine batters while picking up his second win of the season for Mont Alto. Overall, Meyers only gave up five hits and conceded one earned run across seven innings of work.

Nick Jacoby (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg), Colby Black (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring), and Brady Topper (Littlestown, Pa. / Littlestown) went 2-for-4. Freshman catcher Joseph Wunsch (Dover, Del. / Dover Area) also collected a pair of hits.

Mont Alto (5-8, 1-0 PSUAC) looks to complete a three-game sweep of Penn State New Kensington with a home doubleheader scheduled for Monday, April 2 at 2 p.m. PSUMA was originally slated to play Penn State Beaver on the road Saturday, but the game has been postponed due to an unplayable field at Beaver.
