Jeremiah Younker Announced as PSUAC Hitter of the Week

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Senior outfielder Jeremiah Younker (Hagerstown, Md. / Williamsport) was named baseball hitter of the week by the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) on Wednesday after helping Mont Alto to a 9-1 win over Greater Allegheny in the PSUAC First Round Play-In game.

Overall, Younker batted .900 (9-for-10), extending his hitting streak to 25-straight games, while also driving in a team-high seven runs. He helped the Penn State Mont Alto baseball team to dominant wins over Dickinson College and PSU Greater Allegheny. He had five extra base hits through the week, while he nearly hit for his second cycle of the season as well as scored seven runs for the Nittany Lions.

In addition, Younker also pitched a complete game against Greater Allegheny where he managed eight strikeouts, while limiting the opponent to six hits. Through 41 games this spring, Younker is batting .444 with seven homers and 42 RBIs. He has also scored 50 runs, while also swiping 12 bags. He has also made 13 appearances on the mound, posting a 5-2 record with a 3.11 ERA, which ranks seventh within the conference.

Mont Alto (25-16) moves onto the double elimination part of the PSUAC Tournament with the semifinal and championship rounds taking place at Showers Field in DuBois, Pa. on May 5-6. PSUMA will face the top seed from the East Division, Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5.
