Baseball finishes season with USCAA runner-up

USCAA Small College World Series Championship: Salem University 8, Penn State Mont Alto 3

 

DuBois, Pa.- Penn State Mont Alto baseball finished with their best season in school history with an overall record of 35-18 after dropping the USCAA Small College Championship game to Salem University by a final of 8-3. Mont Alto advanced to the championship contest with a 11-9 comeback victory against Penn State DuBois in the loser's bracket final.

 

Mont Alto won its first baseball conference title since 2022 this season and made an appearance in its first USCAA National Championship game.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Mont Alto scored first in the top of the first inning when Cameron Bailey plated Wyatt Kissel with a two run home run to right center field.

-Salem would tack on eight runs on eight hits, including a grand slam by Hunter Rose to take a 8-2 lead after two innings of play.

-Leadoff batter Caiden Smith reached base via a walk in the top of the sixth inning and Garrett Worth would score Smith a few batters later on a RBI double to left center field.

-Mont Alto threatened in the top of the seventh inning, but Wyatt Kissel made the final out ending Mont Alto's historic season.

Cameron Bailey 8 for 17 (.471 avg), 3 HR, 7 RBI and James Sibert 9 for 23 (.391) 1 HR, 3 RBI were both named to the all-tournament team following the championship game.
