Mont Alto Competes at Juniata College Basketball Tournament

Mont Alto Competes at Juniata College Basketball Tournament

The Men's Basketball team traveled to Juniata College Friday for the annual Doc Greene Basketball Tournament.  This was the first time that Mont Alto participated in this tournament.  After only playing two games of the season so far against Christendom College and Hood College, Mont Alto faced Juniata College at the Kenny Sports + Recreation Center for the second game of the tournament.

Mont Alto played well with Division III Juniata in the first half of the game but the Eagles came out strong taking the win in the second half.  The Co-Captains lit up the board; Sophomore Kevin Onyeaka was the leading scorer for Mont Alto with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks.  Sophomore Dan Smay contributed 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.

Saturday's game was against Montclair State for consolation game at 2:00 p.m.  At half time, Mont Alto only trailed by 21 points and then scored only 6 less points than Montclair State in the second half.  Although the outcome was a loss for Mont Alto, many players contributed to the 63 points on the board.  Sophomore Michael Warrenfeltz started his second game of the season, tallying 16 points and 6 rebounds, freshman Kevin King saw 27 minutes of playing time putting 17 points into the net for Mont Alto.

The team played very well against both competitive Division III teams.  Kevin Onyeaka was named to the All Tournament team for his outstanding work on the court during both games.
Mont Alto's next game will be away on December 1st at Penn State York for an 8:00 p.m. game
