Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball team hosted New Kensington and Fayette for the first games back after winter break.  Coming off of a record of 0-2 in the conference and 1-6 overall, Mont Alto came out ready to win.

Facing New Kensington Friday night, Mont Alto had all of their starters contributing points in double figures.  "We worked hard our first week back, it showed we were out of game shape and had a few turnovers but we got it done and took the win," Head Coach Ed Flory comments.  Jeremiah Mitchell posted double-doubles for Mont Alto during his thirty-five minutes of playing time.  Coach Flory was happy with the play as a team and individually, "Shane Santell is always solid on the court, Daniel Smay had a great half, he hit a couple of crucial shots including three's to keep the lead."  Mont Alto kept the game close but pulled through with minutes left to rally with an 81-73 win.

Mont Alto had less than 24 hours to prepare to host Fayette on Saturday for another significant conference game.  Going into the game, both Mont Alto and Fayette were 1-3 in the conference and ready for a competitive match-up.  Mitchell had another game with double-doubles for the team with ten rebounds and fourteen points.  Again Shane Santell, Kevin Onyeaka, and Jesse Newman all starters, had points in the doubles, helping Mont Alto take the lead.  The momentum of the game was intense until the buzzer with Mont Alto grabbing another win for the weekend, 74-54.

Newman led the team with 22 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals during his thirty-three minutes on the court.  Onyeaka with 15 points, 4 steals and 3 assists continued to play a major part in the victory.  Santell continued to prove his importance on the court with 11 points, one assist and three rebounds.

Mont Alto (2-4) will travel to Penn State Hazleton on Monday for an 8:00 p.m. game.
