Fayette steals the win from Mont Alto

Playing for the second day in a row on the road, Mont Alto Men's Basketball team started out slow against Penn State Fayette on their home court.  With both teams taking the lead throughout the game, Fayette came out with the win, 67-63.

The game went quickly to Fayette's favor as they took the lead, 20-4 at one point.   Mont Alto was still trailing at halftime 36-24.  But coming out shooting 46 percent in the second half, Mont Alto outscored Fayette and fought back to take the lead 63-62 with 1:22 left in the game.  Unfortunately three turnovers due to poor decisions on Mont Alto's end led to Fayette scoring a three to take the lead with not enough time left for Mont Alto to answer back.

"The effort level of the guys was great. Our conditioning paid off big as we actually wore Fayette down even though we were the team to play two days in a row," Head Coach Jack Schenzel comments.

There were several key players in Saturday game, Freshman Tyree Maeser played a major role on defense and offense.  He scored 17 points, rebounding six and collecting 5 steals for the game.  Captains Derek Null and Daniel Smay also tallied points scoring 7 and 8 points.  Jordan Dawson came out strong, grabbing 7 rebounds and scoring 8 points.  Jeff Bowie added 11 points to the board.

Mont Alto has yet another game on the road at Penn State Hazleton on Monday at 8:00 p.m.
