Mont Alto falls to New Kensington

Penn State Mont Alto traveled to Penn State New Kensington on Friday to compete in their first PSUAC game of the spring semester.  The Mont Alto Men's Basketball team was anxious for their first game back since the Juniata College tournament in December.  After a well-played game, New Kensington took the win, 65-50.

"We were not able to shoot the ball with much accuracy and that in the end was the difference," Head Coach Jack Schenzel explains.  "We played a bigger team and they sat in a zone most of the game.  Their size limited our ability to score in the paint and with the 2-27 shooting from the 3-point line we struggled to score."

Freshman Jordan Dawson tallied 10 points for Mont Alto and grabbed nine rebounds.  Keven King snagged 7 rebounds while captain Cameron Bowens scored nine and captain Derek Null made eight points.  Mont Alto was 24% from the field, 2-27 from the three and 8-13 for free throws.  They totaled 36 rebounds, 6 assists, ten steals, 4 blocks and 8 turnovers.

"The guys played hard the entire game, we just did not shoot well. New Kensington was well coached and played well," Coach Schenzel comments.
