Mont Alto tallies another PSUAC win

The Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball team won their first game on the road this season against Penn State Schuylkill in overtime, 81-71.

Mont Alto traveled to Schuylkill on Monday after defeating Penn College on their home court on Saturday.  The energy coming off earning their first conference win carried into their play against Schuylkill.  Coach Jack Schenzel comments on the game, "Schuylkill played a hard game but our guys came out from the start wanting to win."

Mont Alto held onto the lead throughout the whole game until 28 seconds left in the second half.  Schuylkill tied up the game after sinking two free throws.  Mont Alto did not hesitate.  They came out strong in overtime, scoring first and ended the game winning by ten.

"It was a very physical game and we struggled with taking care of the ball at times which got us into some tough spots.  The team was able to respond and I am extremely proud of their effort," Coach Schenzel adds.  "We are hoping this is a sign of what we can look forward to this season and continue to look towards playoffs."

Jeremiah Mitchell grabbed eight rebounds and scored 14 points to contribute to the win for Mont Alto.  Captain Cameron Bowens shot 100% from the free throw line and was the team leader in points, scoring a total of 16.  Keven King led the team in rebounds with nine and added 10 points to the board.  Bobby Ingram also was in double digits with 15 points.  Jeffrey Bowie came off the bench strong for Mont Alto scoring nine.

Mont Alto will be on the road again to face Hazleton on Saturday December 8th, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
