Mont Alto defeats New Kensington

Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball team picked up another big win in conference play.  Mont Alto had 13 players score in the 71-46 win over Penn State New Kensington.

All the players for Mont Alto saw many minutes on the court tonight.

"This was a trap game as since we had just come off a big win against York. New Kensington is struggling this year and came into the game without a win.  We were able to play the bench a good deal tonight and they were able to stay even with New Kensington and give us a needed win in the league," commented Head Coach Jack Schenzel.

Jeffery Bowie led the team with 12 points.  Sharif Welton and DeVonte Merritt each added five rebounds.

Earlier this week, Welton received PSUAC Player of the Week Honors.

"I think it is a great honor for someone from the team to get selected to be player of the week. Sharif has had a solid start to his career her at Mont Alto. His versatility has been great and allowed us to do more offensively and defensively this year. I think that he will continue to improve as he gets stronger physically. He could be a top 5 player in this league if he puts in to work in the weight room and on the court in the offseason," said Schenzel.

Penn State Mont Alto returns to action at home on Saturday, January 12th at 3:00 p.m. against Penn State Fayette.
