Mont Alto Men fall to Scranton by one, 71-70

 

 

Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball lost a close one to PSUAC opponent Penn State Worthington Scranton, 71-70.  Both teams fought hard and it came down to the last few seconds of the game.

 

 

Mont Alto took control of the game in the first half, leading Scranton for the first 20 minutes.  They went into the half with a score of 38-29.  Mont Alto came out strong in the second half.  Scranton did not let up, tying the game up with ten minutes left.  The score went back and forth the rest of the game before Scranton took the lead and Mont Alto was unable to match it. 

 

 

Keven King hit a jumper with 17 seconds left in the game to bring Mont Alto back within one point but they did not get another opportunity to score again.  Scranton was able to hold on with a one point advantage to win the game.

 

 

"It was a tough loss and we are struggling to play good defense," said Head Coach Jack Schenzel.  "We did not have the same intensity as Scranton the second half of the game."

 

 

Sharif Welton led Mont Alto with 15 points and seven rebounds.  King added 14 points and five steals while Jeremiah Mitchell had 12 points and five rebounds.

  

 

Penn State Mont Alto will travel to Penn State DuBois on Monday, January 28th for an 8:00 p.m. tip off.
