Mont Alto Men defeats Williamson Trade at home, 60-53

Mont Alto Men defeats Williamson Trade at home, 60-53

Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball team returned home last night to host a non-conference game against Williamson Trade School.  The game was very close throughout both halves but Mont Alto was able to come out ahead, winning 60-53.

Williamson led the entire first half but Mont Alto's Cameron Bowens hit a 3-point shot right before half time to bring them within one point after 20 minutes of play.  The momentum then shifted in Mont Alto's favor.  Keven King made a jumper to open the second half and take the lead but Williamson was able to answer right back.  With ten minutes left, Mont Alto regained the lead and stayed ahead the rest of the game.

"Tonight was a great opportunity for the team to win a game.  As a team, we have been struggling to win games in the last month.  Defensively we did a great job down the stretch by limiting their open shots.  Williamson is a very well coached, discipline team," stated Head Coach Jack Schenzel.

Bowens led the team with 11 points while Sharif Welton and DeVonte Merritt added 10 and nine, respectfully.

"We had great productivity from starters and the players off the bench.  I am hoping this win will carry through to secure a playoff spot."

Mont Alto will play home again on Thursday, February 7th in a PSUAC conference game against Penn State Lehigh Valley at 7:00 p.m.  This is Mont Alto's last home game on the season and their senior night, honoring Cameron Bowens.
