#6 Mont Alto upsets #3 Fayette in PSUAC Quarter-Finals

Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball team has advanced to the Final Four in the PSUAC Basketball Championships.  This is the first time in the past five years.  Mont Alto played a hard, fought game against Fayette last night, coming out with a close victory, 68-64.

Mont Alto started the game a little slow, with Fayette scoring the first seven points of the game before Jeremiah Mitchell made a layup to get Mont Alto started.  They trailed by as much as 11 points in the first half before making a comeback.  Mont Alto led by one point, 27-26, going into half time.

"Corey Myers and Mitchell were big sparks off the bench and carried us to catch up with Fayette," commented Head Coach Jack Schenzel.

In the second half, Mont Alto kept the lead the entire 20 minutes.  They came out of the locker after halftime ready to play and they showed that on the court.

"In the second half the guys played very well.  And we were able to win against a very tough opponent on their home court."

Cameron Bowens was able to seal the win with four made free throws at the end of the game.

"I am very proud of Cameron; he was mentally tough and I am happy he had the opportunity to make those shots.  I am very proud of this whole team."

Mont Alto will travel to Penn State Beaver to take on Penn State York at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th in the semi-final game.  The winner will play the winner of the Penn State Beaver vs. Penn State Brandywine game.  The Championship game is set for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17th.
