Men's Basketball defeats Brandywine

The Mont Alto Men's Basketball team did it again.  They won another game in the PSUAC on the road and continue to be undefeated.  Mont Alto traveled to Brandywine on Friday night and won 81-70.  Mont Alto took the lead at the beginning of the game and never looked back.

"This was a tough matchup of two teams that both made the PSUAC Final Four last
year," Head Coach Jack Schenzel comments.  "Brandywine is well a coached team.  Coach Ross has his team prepared every game to be successful.  As a group we played pretty well in the first half and most of the second half, we need to clean up our turnovers overall."

Freshman Jerome Evans (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) played another impressive game off the bench with a double-double.  Evans contributed 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds during his 24 minutes of play.  Corey Meyers (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) started at guard and played 29 minutes for Mont Alto.  Meyers recorded 10 defensive rebounds, four assists and 11 points.  Mont Alto's forward Devonte Merritt (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) was strong under the basket with 10 rebounds.

"We were again led by Jerome Evans, a freshman who stepped up and in the second half provided solid scoring," Coach Schenzel adds.  "Corey Meyers also stepped up tonight and had his first double-double at the college level.  Devonte Merritt played great defense throughout the game."

Coach Schenzel adds, "I think we are starting to improve as a team each game.  We still need
to get better with the turnovers and foul shooting."

The men will travel to Dubois on Saturday December 21st for a 3:00 p.m. game.  They will return to their home court on January 4th at 6:00 p.m. against McDaniel College.
