Men's Basketball finishes first semester undefeated

Penn State Mont Alto Men's Basketball played their last game of the semester against Penn State Dubois.  Mont Alto added another win to their record, defeating Dubois 90-64.  Mont Alto remains undefeated and is ranked third in the 2013-14 USCAA Men's Basketball D-II Standings and is currently first in the PSUAC 2013-14 Men's Basketball South Division.

"Today was a great road win for us to close out the semester," Head Coach Jack Schenzel comments.  "Playing against a strong program year in and year out, Coach Bennett does a great job every year of preparing his team for every game."

Mont Alto took the lead and didn't look back.  The team had great effort from the bench to help secure the win.  The leading scorer for Mont Alto was junior guard, Evan Ehrhart (York, PA/Red Lion) contributing 13 points for Mont Alto.  Devonte Merritt (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) added 12 points and eight rebounds.  Jeremiah Mitchell (Philadelphia, PA) came off the bench strong with 12 points.  Jamaal Carter (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) played well offensively for Mont Alto, recording seven assists and nine points.

"This was a great effort by the whole team in relation to how they were able to sustain defensive energy throughout the game," Coach Schenzel adds.  "Offensively this was a good game, we had 20 assists which meant that the guys were playing unselfish and looking for the better shot and we shot 69% from the floor in the second half so that led to easy baskets and the ability for us to extend the lead from halftime."

"We want to take this successful first semester and roll it into the second semester so that we can continue this momentum," Coach Schenzel adds. "I challenged the guys to come back second semester and play better basketball on a game by game basis."

Mont Alto will be back on their home court to start the second semester against NCAA
Division III McDaniel College on January 4th at 6:00 p.m.
