Mont Alto men had a tough road a head of them this afternoon, as they took on Division I Lehigh University on the road. The opportunity to play this opponent was a huge one for USCAA team Mont Alto, and they made it worth it. Though the scoreboard may not reflect that it was an internal victory for them, all of the Mont Alto men have not only come away with a new experience, but know that they are a better team for it.
The first half was a little rough, as it took almost the entire 20 minutes for Mont Alto to get calmed down and reign in the horses. Though the desire was there, the atmosphere was nerves. The second half proved to be different however, as Mont Alto stayed in to play Mont Alto style of basketball, and only lost the second half by 4 points.
Devonte Merritt (25) finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jerome Evans (30) led all scorers with 20 points, and Sharil Welton (11) dished out 7 assists.
It was a well fought battle that Mont Alto was proud to have the opportunity to face, and now they move on to their next USCAA opponent in Central Penn when Mont Alto travels again to East Pennsboro on Tuesday night.
