The last time Mont Alto faced the Owls from Warren Wilson was in the first round of the USCAA National Championship Tournament.  Mont Alto was looking for the same result as last year as they sent the Owls home after the first round of play.

This year would be no different as Mont Alto brought the energy from the start with their tenacious defense.  Not only did the defense for Mont Alto pave the way, but the offense was full of energy as well.  Corey Meyers came out on fire from the 3-point line, ending the first half 3-3 from beyond the arc.

Sharif Welton added a thunderous dunk over an unexpecting Thomas Hay from Warren Wilson that sparked the energy even greater for Mont Alto.  Welton also scored his 1,000 point with his first bucket of the game making him the first player in Mont Alto to reach this milestone.

The second half found Warren Wilson clawing their way back, but Mont Alto was not going to be denied.  With a couple of late steals and layups from Meyers to seal the game, Mont Alto would go on to win the first round game, 66-64.
