Mont Alto Falls Short...

Penn State Mont Alto fell to Central Penn Wednesday night after failing to convert in the final minute. The final score was 88-86. This is the first game that Penn State Mont Alto has lost this season dropping their record to 2-1. Central Penn improved to 7-1 with the win.

 

Mont Alto leaned heavily on their guard play in the first half after big men Jerome Evans picked up two quick fouls. Mont Alto got some huge plays from Jalen Smith, Kevin Holston, and Siele Johnson and was able to trim Central Penn's lead before halftime.

 

Penn State started the 2nd half strong eventually gaining a lead. After Mont Alto grabbed the lead Central Penn went on a big run that saw them lead by as much as 12 points.

 

Mont Alto never stopped fighting with 5 minutes left in the contest they made a final push. After some big stops and free throws Mont Alto came within 2 points of Central Penn. Unfortunately Penn State's last run fell short and Central Penn was able to hold on for the victory.

 

Freshmen Jalen Smith had a big game for Mont Alto posting his first career double double. He finished the game with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jerome Evans (12 points, 6 rebounds), Theo Remy (15 points, 5 rebounds), and Kevin Holston (11 points) also posted double-digit games for Mont Alto.

 

Penn State Mont Alto heads up to Maine this weekend to play a pair of road games. They will face Southern Maine CC this Saturday and Central Maine CC on Sunday.
