Top PSUAC Matchup Proves To Be Just That....

The matchup between the top two teams in the PSUAC was promised to be a good one, and anyone who didn't think so turned out to be wrong.

As Mont Alto and Fayette started the game everyone watching could tell it was going to be 40 minutes of back and forth.  With 6 ties and 8 lead changes the teams were both fighting for ground, battling to come out on top.

Fayette struck first, but Mont Alto didn't take long to heat up.  Exchanging basket for basket during a lot of the first half the teams had almost identical numbers.  Each team was cold from the 3 point line and average from the field.

Mont Alto's freshman DeShawn Franklin went into the locker room with 12 points, and Mont Alto had the lead, 37-35.  Mont Alto was also advatageous on the glass as they held the rebounding margin by 10, 23-13.

Coming out to the second half it looked like Mont Alto might get a comfortable lead as they hit a few quick buckets to go up 7.  Fayette didn't lay down though as they came back with a few 3's of their own to spark a quick comeback.

Each team kept clawing though, back and forth until three minutes to go when Fayette capitalized on a few Mont Alto turnovers.  Mont Alto hit a few late shots in the closing seconds, but the lead was still too much to overcome.

Fayette went on to give Mont Alto their first conference loss of the year with a second half 3 point showing of 9-14.

Mont Alto's Theo Remy led his team with 19 points with DeShawn Franklin adding 15, and Kevin Holston dropping in 10.

Fayette had two scorers with 24 each in Luke Williams and Brandon Cunningham.

Mont Alto still holds first place in the PSUAC with only one loss, and travels to Wilkes Barre tomorrow night.
