Uniontown, Pa. - Cody Rydbom of the Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team was named to the 2016-17 National All-Academic Team by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) on Tuesday.
All student-athletes must have 24 or more credits on their USCAA transcripts and their cumulative grade point average must be a 3.50 or greater to be eligible for the recognition.
Rydbom a business major, became a two-time National All-Academic Team member with his 3.76 cumulative GPA. The junior forward appeared in 25 games for the Lions where he registered 14 starts. He averaged a career-high 8.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot 44.4 percent (4-of-9) from downtown.
The National All-Academic Team was announced at the USCAA Championship banquet, which was held on the Penn State Fayette campus. A full list of the 2016-17 USCAA National All-Academic Team honorees can be found here.
