Men’s Basketball Drops PSUAC Matchup to Schuylkill

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill held the Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team to 29.1 percent shooting from the floor in the second half with Schuylkill overcoming a first half deficit in an 82-68 win on Friday.

Penn State Mont Alto raced out to a 42-34 first half lead with 12 players seeing substantial playing time with the team building a 13 point lead in the period. Jalen Smith (Ranson, W. Va. / Jefferson) had a big half off the bench with 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Mont Alto shot just over 48 percent from the field in the half and were 5-of-12 from downtown. Smith, Spencer Meyers (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim), and Anthony F. Davis (Prince George's County, Md. / Bowie) each tailed a 3-pointer. 

Schuylkill mounted its second half comeback on the back of PSUAC leading scorer Kody Jacoby who scored 18 of his game-high 30 points in the half.  Schuylkill shot just over 53 percent from the field and a Jacoby 3-pointer at the 8:54 mark that put Schuylkill up 66-63 sparked a 16-5 run to end the game.

Jalen Smith (Ranson, W. Va. / Jefferson) finished with a team-high 17 points and freshman guard Jordan Gillis (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) added 15 points for Mont Alto. Junior Nick Jacoby (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) had seven points and 11 rebounds.

Penn State Mont Alto (4-5, 1-3 PSUAC) returns to action on Saturday, December 16 in a home game with Penn Highlands. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
