LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team (5-6, 1-3 PSUAC) played in it's final game before the holiday break in a road matchup with Lock Haven University (3-6), the Bald Eagles got off to a quick start and their front court length was hard to overcome in a 107-73 loss.
Mont Alto kept it close in the opening five minutes of the game, trailing 5-7 after Spencer Meyers (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) splashed a 3-pointer and a transition layup from Jordan Gillis (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) sparked the scoring. Lock Haven's length began to wear on the Nittany Lions as Amir Hinton scored 14 first-half points with the Bald Eagles carrying a 51-29 lead into the halftime break.
PSU Mont Alto came were much more assertive on the offensive end of the floor finishing the game on a 20-19 run and shot 17-of-35 (48.6%) from the floor. Mont Alto wasn't able to lock down the Bald Eagles who finished with five players reaching double figures including 59 points off the bench.
Jordan Gillis (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) led the way for Mont Also with 14 points and Marcus Roper (Charles Town, W. Va. / Jefferson) hit 2-of-4 shots from downtown, finishing with eight points. Javon Mitchell (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield) added nine points off the bench with Quintyn Flemister (Harrisburg, Pa. / Harrisburg) and Anthony F. Davis (Prince George's County, Md. / Bowie) also combining for 15 points off the bench.
The Nittany Lions will return to action after the New Year's Day holiday when they travel to play Williamson College of the Trades on Saturday, January 6. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
