Jalen Smith Lands PSUAC Player of the Week Honors

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Penn State Mont Alto junior guard Jalen Smith (Ranson, W. Va. / Jefferson) was selected as the men's basketball player of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

During two games over the past week, Smith averaged 12.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He shot a combined 50 percent from the field (10-of-20), in a hard fought loss to Lock Haven University and in the team's 96-83 win over Penn Highlands Community College.

Smith poured in a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field against Penn Highlands. The junior guard is Mont Alto's leading scorer averaging 17.6 points a game, which is tied for eighth best in the PSUAC.

Penn State Mont Alto (5-6, 1-3 PSUAC) will return to action after the New Year's Day holiday when they travel to play Williamson College of the Trades on Saturday, January 6. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
