MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team had four different players finish in double figures with junior guard Quintyn Flemister (Harrisburg, Pa. / Harrisburg) netting 26 points in the 78-66 win over PSU Fayette. PSUMA have now won seven-straight and are 8-2 overall and 6-0 within the PSUAC.

Inside the Box Score

  • Flemister stuffed the stat sheet with six steals, six rebounds and five assists to go along with his 26 points. Backcourt mate Marcus Roper (Charles Town, W. Va. / Jefferson) scored 17 points with seven assists.
  • Mont Alto finished shooting 48.4 percent from the field and were much more efficient in the second half especially from downtown. The Nittany Lions nailed 5-of-12 attempts from 3-point range in the second half.
  • PSUMA outscored the visitors by 11 points in the second half and forced the visitors into 23 turnovers.
  • Tavian Mozie scored 20 points for Fayette with Dominic Boring adding 13 and Trevor Laskody scoring 11 points in the loss.

How it Happened

  • Mont Alto led for nearly the entire first half thanks in part to the one-two punch of Quintyn Flemister (Harrisburg, Pa. / Harrisburg) and JR Powe  (Frederick, Md. / Thomas Johnson) who combined for 18 points within the half. Both converted three shots from the field.
  • Powe put PSUMA up 18-12 before Fayette tied it up two straight-times with the second occurring after a pair of Trevor Laskody free throws with 5:35 remaining in the first half at 24-24.
  • PSUMA went on a 7-0 spurt that was capped off by a Flemister trey that put them up 31-24. Fayette closed the half scoring six-straight as the game was slowed down by several fouls. Mont Alto carried a 31-30 lead into halftime.
  • Flemister hit a jumper that put PSUMA up 50-42 with 13:28 in the second half. Fayette was able to hang around as the home team never really was able to establish a 10 or more point lead in the second half.
  • Darrius Bush (Martinsburg, W.Va. / Spring Mills) had a pair of big second half blocks and knocked down a pair at the charity stripe that finally put PSUMA up 69-59 with 3:02 remaining.
  • Mont Alto was able to maintain its lead down the stretch and knocked down the necessary free throws to secure the game.

Mont Alto returns to action on Tuesday, December 10 when they travel to Penn State Scranton. Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
