Penn State Mont Alto 69, Penn State New Kensington 64

 

MONT ALTO, Pa - Caleb Eckert led all scorers with 22 points in his third straight game with 20 or more. Nathan Osei was the next biggest contributor with 13 points as Mont Alto pushes past New Kensington 69-64.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Caleb Eckert opened the scoring with a 3-pointer and a layup early in the first half to put Mont Alto up 5-2.

With 13:02 left in the first half, New Kensington's Aubrey Feaster II hit a jumper to tie the game at 11.

Both teams went bucket for bucket as the largest lead held from either side was five until only a minute remained in the first half.

With 3:34 left in the first half, Dariel Rivera laid the ball in which triggered an 8-0 run from Mont Alto that was topped off with a layup from Mont Alto's Bryson Fleming with one second left and put Mont Alto up 30-20 going into the locker rooms.

Nathan Osei continued the momentum with a big 3-pointer just seven seconds into the second half.

With 16:29 left in the game, New Kensington's Aubrey Feaster II laid the ball in to cut the deficit to just eight.

Mont Alto's Veron Talla found the net to put Mont Alto up 17 with 8:52 left in the contest.

New Kensington wouldn't go down easy as they began to chip away at the double-digit lead and a big jump shot from Benjamin Cunningham brought his team within three for the first time since midway through the first half.

The comeback effort ultimately fell short, and Mont Alto's Nathan Osei hit two clutch free throws to end the game with Mont Alto victorious 69-64.
