Mont Alto falls just short in PSUAC quarterfinals

Penn State DuBois 98, Penn State Mont Alto 87

MONT ALTO, Pa. – The PSUAC West 1st seed Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball team hosted 4th seed Penn State DuBois in PSUAC playoff action on Monday night. Despite a well-rounded team effort of seven players with double-digit points, Mont Alto couldn't mount a late comeback.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Mont Alto jumped to an early 13-3 lead on a layup from Nathan Osei

-DuBois answered back and a 3-pointer from Jordin Sommers put his team up 17-16 with 11:49 left in the half

-A 3-pointer from Mont Alto's Caleb Eckert tied the game at 21 with 7:40 left in the first

-With 1:20 left in the half, Mont Alto's Taralle Hayden was fouled on a made layup and connected with the free throw to tie the game at 30

-Both teams exchanged layups and went into halftime deadlocked 34-34

-DuBois' Kaleb Pryor hit a 3-point shot to put his team up 11 with 8:58 remaining in the contest

-Cameron Williams found the net in transition which brought Mont Alto within four with 4:39 left in the game

-Mont Alto couldn't complete the comeback effort and some late free throws sealed the deal for DuBois to take the victory 98-87

Kaleb Pryor – 20 points, 5 assists

Kyron Harbin – 20 points, 5 rebounds

Beau Verdill – 15 points, 8 rebounds

 

Penn State Mont Alto Leaders:

Veron Talla – 15 points, 4 rebounds

Taralle Hayden – 15 points, 3 assists

Caleb Eckert – 14 points, 8 rebounds
