Hartman, Talla headline PSUAC Basketball Awards

The Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference released its season awards on Friday afternoon. Penn State Mont Alto first year women's basketball Forward Kaleigh Hartman and men's basketball Forward Veron Talla were each named Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference.

 

Hartman had a strong first season for Mont Alto in which she averaged 18.8 PPG to go along with 11 RPG. Hartman's season high effort came against Greater Allegheny in which she had 35 points on 16 of 20 shooting.

 

Talla was the men's basketball team's leading scorer at 14 points per contest. His season-high point total came on opening night against Bucks County Community College where he scored 27 points. 

 

Caleb Eckert picked up second team honors on the men's side while Cameron Williams was named an Honorable Mention.

 

Dariana Perez and Autumn Fischer also earned Honorable Mentions on the women's side. 

 

 

Second year Saihou Mbergan was named the campus receipient for the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award. The award is given to one student-athlete on each sports team that best displays good sportsmanship and demonstrates ethical, appropriate, polite and fair behavior while participating in athletic events and as a member of their team.

 

On the women's side, second year Shanez Morales was named the campus receipient for the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award.
