Mont Alto wins on home course

The Penn State Mont Alto Golf team was victorious on Penn National's Founders Course today as Mont Alto hosted their only home meet of the season. With rain, wind, and temperatures in the low 60's, the five teams competing had even more of a challenge than the ones already on the golf course. Mont Alto's Chris Rhein (New Park, PA) shot a 4 over par 76Ariq Mansur (Dhaka, Bangladesh) shot a five over par 77, finishing third overall. Both Dan Zeiders (Sewell, NJ) and Scott Levy (Chambersburg, PA) had a 79. Mont Alto's finishing line-up had four golfers in the top five and all with a par in the 70's. "We got some very nice scores today out of freshmen Chris Rhein (76) and Ariq Mansur (77). This was the first match both players broke 80. The rain made it tough going down the stretch, but we had four scores in the 70's. Penn National was in great shape today and we pulled out our second victory of the season," Head Coach Bill Burke commented. Mont Alto's freshman Mitch Wisniewski came in after the 18th hole with a 93 and Martin Schlenker followed behind with a 96. Winning two out of the three matches so far this season, Mont Alto will be traveling to Butler's Golf Course near Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Sept. 22nd for a 10:00 a.m. tee off.
