Penn State Mont Alto Golf Team played their first match of the season on Tuesday. The match was played at Penn National's Founders Course. The weather was perfect for golf, sunny skies and little wind.
Mont Alto took advantage of being on their home course. Sophomore, Chase King (Orrtanna, PA / Gettysburg Area High School) led the team with a 73 on a par 72 course to earn the medalist spot. The second place individual was only three strokes behind King, keeping the match close. Freshman Adam Poulson (Fairfield, PA / Fairfield High School) came in second for Mont Alto and third overall with a 78. Brandon Rojas (Fresno, CA / Buchanan High School) also made it in the top five with a 79.
"It was as great way to start the season," Head Coach Mike Banzhoff comments. Mont Alto was able to have three golfers in the top five and finish first with a score of 321, defeating Penn College by 3.
Mont Alto's next match is September 17th at F&M Invitational at 12:30 p.m.
