Mont Alto Golf wins PSUAC title

Mont Alto Golf wins PSUAC title

Penn State Mont Alto Golf team was named 2012 PSUAC Champions after the two day tournament at the Blue Course at University Park.  This is their third championship in the past four years.  They have now claimed the title in 2009, 2010 and 2012.  Mont Alto placed 6th overall for the USCAA out of 19 teams.   The team proved that weather was not an issue.   Playing on Monday in cold and windy conditions, most of the team shot lower than they did on Tuesday when the sun was shining and the temperature was much warmer.

At the end of the day on Monday, Mont Alto was first for the PSUAC and second overall for the USCAA only nine strokes behind Daemen College.  Chase King shot a 75, only three over par and was sitting at first for the PSUAC and tied for second individually overall for the USCAA.

On Tuesday, not only did the weather change but also Mont Alto's place on the course for the USCAA.  The team stayed strong and held on to first place in PSUAC with a grand total of 649 points beating the regular season champions, Penn College by over 30 points.

Adam Poulson took the number one spot for Mont Alto and second overall for the PSUAC.  We had four more of our players in the top ten of the PSUAC, Chase King in 3rd, Cory Eberly 5th, Jake Hoover 6th and Brandon Rojas 10th.

On the USCAA side, Adam Poulson made it in the top ten individually.  Brandon Rojas and Charles Snow were named USCAA Academic All-Americans.  Adam Poulson and Chase King made USCAA All-American Second Team.

"It was great to see the team play well and bring the PSUAC title back to Mont Alto," commented Coach Bill Burke.

PSUAC awards will be announced in the near future.
