STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Senior Austin Green (Greencastle, Pa. / Chambersburg Area High) fired a round of 4-under par on Thursday afternoon leading the Penn State Mont Alto golf team to a fifth-place finish at the 10-team PSUAC White Course Invitational. Green claimed individual medalist honors over Josh Zelinsky of Penn State Schuylkill who shot a round of 69.

Green, a previous PSUAC Champion returns to the golf team after he spent the 2017 season away from the team while he concentrated on his academics while also raising his young daughter.

Thursday's round of golf experienced a brief weather delay on the 6,300-yard course that saw Penn State Wilkes-Barre claim the team championship by totaling 317 strokes. Wilkes-Barre edged out Penn State DuBois by three strokes as three of their players carded rounds of 80 or better.

Freshman Cameron Lee (Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) tied for 20th collecting 85 strokes, while fellow newcomer Noah Witmer (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) was the next best finisher for Mont Alto with a round of 88, which tied for 24th.

Rounding out the Mont Alto golfers was sophomore Robert Sirk (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) and freshman Matthew Lynerd (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) who each carded solid rounds of 89.

Penn State Mont Alto travels to Carlisle on Tuesday, September 11 as it will take part in the Dickinson College Invitational. The shot-gun start from the Carlisle Barracks Golf Club will be at 1 p.m.
