Austin Green Wins Second Golf Invitational of 2018 Season; Mont Alto finishes 3rd at PSU Fayette Fall Invitational

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Senior Austin Green (Greencastle, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) of the Penn State Mont Alto golf team captured his second individual title of the 2018 season at the PSU Fayette Fall Invitational held at the Duck Hollow Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.

Green paced the field with a 74 on the par-72, 6,500 yard course, besting the field of 35 golfers by two strokes. It was his second individual title after winning the PSUAC White Course Invitational on September 6.

As a team, Mont Alto recorded a score of 347 to place third out of the five teams participating in Saturday's Invitational. Kent State Tuscarawas took home the team title by finishing with a combined total of 326 strokes.

Robert Sirk (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) and Cameron Lee (Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) finished within the top-15 as Lee finished tied for 15th with a round of 92. Meanwhile, Sirk finished ninth with an 18-hole total of 87.

Freshman Matthew Lynerd (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) was the other team scorer for Mont Alto carding a round of 94, which was good for 18th-place. Fellow newcomer Noah Witmer (Greencastle, Pa. / Greencastle Antrim) rounded out the PSUMA lineup with a 97 to finish tied for 20th.

Mont Alto is expected to head to the Hershey Country Club on Tuesday, September 18 for the Elizabethtown Invitational.
