Cauffman Makes Triumphant Return; Mont Alto Men Finish Sixth in PSUAC Invitational

2019 PSUAC WHITE INVITATIONAL

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Senior Erika Cauffman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) returned to the Mont Alto golf team this season and in her first match back competing against a PSUAC-high seven females, she carded a 91 to claim individual medalist honors. The PSUMA men's carded 329 strokes amongst their scorers with PSU Lehigh Valley taking first prevailing in a tiebreaker over PSU Hazleton after both teams fired combined rounds of 306. Individual male honors went Lehigh Valley's Brian Zinman who finished with a four-under 68.

Thursday's round was played on a beautiful afternoon on the 6,300-yard White Course with Mont Alto hosting the second PSUAC Invitational later this month on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. on the Blue Course.

Newcomer Dylan Loss was the best finisher for PSUMA as he carded a round of 80, while sophomore Paul Steiger (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) finished a stroke behind him with an 81. Rounding out the Mont Alto scorers were sophomore Hunter Reath (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan) and freshman Carson Helfrick (Shippensburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) who carded an 83 and 85, respectively.

Penn State Mont Alto will return to action on Wednesday, September 11 when it takes part in the Penn State Schuylkill Invitational. Tee time is slated for 9:30 a.m. at the Mountain Valley Golf Course.
