Mont Alto Golf Tunes Up for PSUAC/USCAA Championships with Blue Invitational

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn State Mont Alto golf team competed and hosted the PSUAC Blue Invitational on the Blue Course at the Penn State Golf Courses on Monday. Mont Alto finished the event 4th overall and Erika Cauffman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) tied for first in the female portion of the event. Monday served as a fantastic tuneup for the team as the PSUAC/USCAA National Championships will take part in two weeks.

Hazleton defeated Schuylkill in a tiebreaker to claim the team championship with a score of 320. The individual male champion was also a tie with Hazleton's Jeremy Harper and Fayette's Louis Gonzalez both carding scores of 74.

The Mont Alto men carded a team score of 325, with Hunter Reath (Mercersburg, Pa. / James Buchanan) pacing the team with an 18-hole score of 77. Paul Steiger (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) was the next best finisher with an 82 as both Carson Helfrick (Shippebsburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) and Cameron Lee (Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) finished their rounds out nicely with an 83. Rounding out the Nittany Lions was Jakob Warner (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) who turned in a 95.

Mont Alto competes in the Penn State Hazleton Invitational next Monday, Sept. 30 at the Valley Country Club.
