Mont Alto, Pa. (September 2, 2017) – Delaware Valley College (1-0, 0-0 MAC) scored a pair of first half goals and added another four in the second period of play to power past Penn State Mont Alto in a rainy and cold September matchup. The 6-0 defeat drops the Lions to 0-2 on the 2017 season.

Penn State Mont Alto trailed in every statistical category for the 90 minutes of regulation and could not seem to regain control. The visiting Aggies used a patient and aggressive offence with their first breakthrough coming in the 9th minute.  Andre Permyashkin slotted the ball past the out-stretched arms of Mont Alto keeper Owen Gilbert and midfielder Nick Miller made it 2-0 at the 26:24 mark to conclude the first half scoring.

Hoping the Aggies would let off the gas pedal, Mont Alto came out in the second half looking more energized, but Andre Permyashkin tallied another goal just over 10 minutes into the half, making the score 3-0. Billy Frazier Jr. scored a pair of goals that were 23 seconds apart and Evan Ausburger concluded the afternoon scoring finishing off a beautiful feed from Austin Daniels.

Penn State Mont Alto nearly scored its first goal of the season in the 82nd minute off of a set piece near the top of the box.  Nathan Woleslagle found the head of an unmarked Brendan Shannon and the sophomore's header ricocheted off the cross bar.

Owen Gilbert was once again solid in goal for the Lions making seven saves. Mont Alto was outshot 24-4 and the Aggies held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 6 when they travel to Central Penn. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
