Men's Soccer Team Drops Non-Conference Match to Washington Adventist

By: Frank Maira, Assistant Director of Athletics/Sports Information Director

Mont Alto, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's soccer team hosted Washington Adventist College on Wednesday evening and was unable to earn their first win of the season falling to the Shock by an 8-0 score. Washington Adventist improves to 3-4 overall on the season and look to be a strong playoff contender within the USCAA.

The Shock opened the scoring at the 10:06 mark with a goal from Ginfranco Castillon and added another unassisted effort from Klem Garcia 25 seconds later to make it 2-0. The Mont Alto defense was unable to shore up the Shock's offensive attack as they managed another 17 shots within the period and scored four more goals and took a 6-0 lead into halftime. Goalkeeper Owen Gilbert (Wells Tannery, Pa. / Forbes Road) stood strong in net managing seven saves in the first half before being substituted with Wyatt Thorne (Spring Run, Pa. / Fannett Metal) to begin the second half.

The Washington Adventist attack didn't slow down adding another pair of goals on 11 shots. Wyatt Thorne (Spring Run, Pa. / Fannett Metal) performed admirably in goal managing seven saves himself. Nate Hall (New Bloomfield, Pa.), Nahili Hunde (Washington, D.C. / Woodrow Wilson) and Thorne contributed the Lions three shots.

The Lions fall to 0-7 on the season and return to PSUAC play this weekend with road matches against PSU Hazleton on Saturday and PSU Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
