Men’s Soccer Fall to 0-2 in Conference With Loss to Penn State Hazleton

Hazleton, Pa. – The Penn State Mont Alto men's soccer team suffered a 7-0 loss on Saturday to PSUAC foe Penn State Hazleton. Mont Alto drops to 0-2 in conference play and 0-8 overall.

Hazleton controlled the tempo throughout and camped within Mont Alto's defensive third for the majority of the match and finally found their breakthrough in the 14th minute. Moussa Diouf found the back of the net and added another goal in the 31st minute to make it 2-0. PSU Hazleton added another goal from Jason Klusewitz three minutes later and went into halftime with a 3-0 lead. Mont Alto was unable to register a shot within the first half.

It was more of the same for Mont Alto in the second half with the visitors being out-shot 18-5. Hazleton added another four goals within the second 45 minutes. Skyler Miller (Chambersburg, Pa. / Shippensburg) was the closest Lion to adding a goal registering two shots on goal in the second half.

Mont Alto goalkeeper Owen Gilbert (Falls Tannery, Pa. / Forbes Road) was tested throughout having to deal with 18 shots on goal. The freshman keeper finished the match with a season-high 11 saves.

Penn State Mont Alto has a quick turnaround as it searches for its first win of the 2017 season when the Lions travel to play Penn State Wilkes-Barre tomorrow. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
