HAZLETON, Pa. – Joao Pedro (Sorocaba, Brazil / Colegio Uirapuru) was the lone goal scorer of the match helping the Penn State Mont Alto men's soccer team to a 1-0 win in its regular season finale. Austin Moore (Brockway, Pa. / Brockway Area) pitched a shutout on Saturday recording two saves against Hazleton with Mont Alto improving to 10-7-1.

PSUMA nearly got on the board 24 second into the match but Trenton Shetler's (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) effort sailed wide right. Pedro earned a corner kick opportunity in the 11th minute and got his team on the board at the 13:58 mark. He was sent into the 18-yard box by a through ball from Bryce Palamar (Smithsburg, Md. / Williamsport) and finished the shot off for his fourth goal of the season.

Mont Alto turned up the pressure in the second half and nearly scored an insurance effort several times but, Hazleton goalkeeper Bryce Dalpiaz made six of his eight saves within the half. PSUMA outshot the home team 19-4 within the period and 27-9 overall.

PSUMA has won three-straight to close out the regular season to earn the No. 5 seed in the PSUAC Playoffs. Mont Alto will now travel to Penn State Lehigh Valley for its quarterfinals matchup on Wednesday, October 23. Game time is TBD but will be announced on the Mont Alto Athletics social media accounts early this week.
